Top 5 Items That Can Be Saved with Paint - July 15, 2015

Top 5 Items That Can Be Saved with Paint

It’s amazing what you can do with paint. A fresh coat of paint can save even the dingiest piece of furniture from being relegated to the trash heap. Discover the power of paint with this list of 5 items that you can bring back to life with nothing more than do-it-yourself painting techniques (such as these tips from the DIY Network).

JULY 15, 2016

1. Paint Kitchen Cabinets

Give old kitchen cabinets a fresh look with interior painting. This is a great way to revive your kitchen without spending a lot of money or time on a big renovation. Brighten a dark, cave-like kitchen with white paint on the cabinets, or add contrast to a light kitchen by painting them espresso or black. You can even paint the lower cabinets a different color from the upper cabinets to add some interest to an otherwise bland kitchen.

2. Stain or Seal Decks

A deck that has seen better days can always benefit from a good sanding and a fresh coat of weather-resistant paint, sealer, or stain. This do-it-yourself project will not only revive the deck; it will also revive the look of your house.

3. Refinish Fences

The same logic that applies to a worn-out deck also stands for a peeling fence. Applying a fresh coat of white paint to a picket fence, for instance, instantly wakes it up it so it looks like new. It will also improve your curb appeal and serve as a nice accent to your yard.

4. Paint Furniture

A dresser with a dated or ugly finish doesn’t have to be taken to the dump or donated. In most cases, a less-than-appealing dresser, hutch, or coffee table can be saved with a do-it-yourself project -- a coat of paint and some new hardware. Consider painting it a fun color (like yellow or red) to make it stand out as a unique piece in a room, or go for a more classic neutral, like white, cream, or black, to make the piece timeless.

5. Paint Picture Frames

Let’s say you stumble upon a perfect frame for that art poster you’ve been hoarding for years. The only problem is that the frame is the wrong color – it doesn’t go with your existing décor, for instance. Or maybe it’s an old frame you found in a flea market. Instead of passing on the frame, why not give it a fresh look? This is an easy project that only requires a drop cloth, a can of spray paint, and an afternoon.

Paint can be used in a variety of ways to improve the look of almost any item – from kitchen cabinets, to picture frames, to furniture pieces. Next time you are thinking about throwing something out because it has the wrong finish or color, rethink your options, and consider if paint would save it instead. This do-it-yourself attitude could save you a lot of money in the long run.

Fresh Coat Painters Helps Give Children a Home- June 29, 2016

Children’s Home Makes Strides Forward with the Help of Fresh Coat Painters

JUNE 29, 2016

Building a successful future often starts with having a solid foundation – a good education, a strong community, a great role model… but when children have to worry about making sure they have a place to sleep, food to eat and clothes to wear, those foundational building blocks take a back seat to basic human needs. So when Liz Gibson heard that more than 1,800 children in Santa Rosa County are homeless, she knew she had to do something.

Gibson and a team of dedicated volunteers founded For the Children of Milton and they’re working on opening a homeless shelter – but the building they secured needed work. Now Fresh Coat Painters of Pensacola is proud to announce that, through Fresh Coat’s national Paint it Forward® program, the local company is going to be painting the interior of the For the Children of Milton home at no cost.

The painting project will begin on June 27 and is expected to continue most of the week. For the exact address and additional information, please contact Jamario Ridley at 850-637-9416 or JRidley@FreshCoatPainters.com.

“The house is large – about 7,000-square-feet – and can accommodate 32 children. We’ve put a lot of sweat equity into the building and our volunteers have done some painting here and there, but having Fresh Coat come in and provide professional painting is going to make a huge difference. What will take them a week would have taken us months, so hopefully this allow us to open sooner,” Gibson said.

The idea to paint the home came when a Fresh Coat representative met Gibson at a networking event. When Fresh Coat of Pensacola owner Jamario Ridley heard about the need, he immediately wanted to get involved – and Paint it Forward gave them the avenue to make it happen.

“The Paint it Forward program gives local Fresh Coat owners the opportunity to get involved in the community and, hopefully, make a positive impact. Painting this house is a big job and we’re hoping our help can energize For the Children of Milton and empower them to start serving children sooner,” Jamario said.

“I feel like, if you have the opportunity to give back, it’s the right thing to do. We’ve done a lot of work with veterans and now we’re thrilled to be doing something for children. It’s extremely rewarding for me and my team to be involved in this project,” he added.

Fresh Coat will be texturing walls and then painting the walls, ceilings and trim. Gibson said renovated the building has been a challenge and that she’s grateful companies like Fresh Coat Painters have been willing to help along the way.

“We signed on to help children – we’re not contractors and we’re lucky the community has been behind us. The excitement and enthusiasm Jamario and his team bring to this project is a Godsend. When you’re working with a non-profit, even when you have great support from local businesses and churches, you always find yourself bargaining and begging for help. Fresh Coat has truly jumped in with both feet. They’re our heroes,” Gibson said.

Fresh Coat Painters of Pensacola launched in 2013 and offers interior and exterior painting, wood staining and refinishing, wallpaper removal and many other services for nearly every protective coating application. Fresh Coat Painters of Pensacola serves Pensacola, Gulf Breeze, Milton and Pace in Florida as well as Baldwin County in Alabama and the surrounding areas.

Paint It Forward was inspired by Eric Ascencio, previous co-owner of a Fresh Coat Painters franchise in Houston, Texas. Eric had made it his mission to be an inspiration for other cancer patients and to give back to those in his community, leaving behind a legacy when he lost his battle with the disease. With Paint it Forward projects, Fresh Coat provides the expertise and man-hours and the paint for the project is being donated by Fresh Coat Painter’s national paint partner, Sherwin-Williams©.

A home fostered with love that will promote a stronger functioning generation for years to come.” To learn more and get involved, contact ahomeforthechildren@live.com or visit www.ForTheChildrenOfMilton.org.

Business Coach Joins Fresh Coat as New VP of Operations - June 28, 2016

Experienced Business Coach Joins Fresh Coat as New VP of Operations

Nathan Millhouse will be focusing not only on helping new franchisees build strong businesses, but also on guiding successful Fresh Coat owners through growing and scaling their franchises into larger operations.

JUNE 28, 2016

Fresh Coat Painters has built a reputation for providing excellent support to their franchisees around the country and now President Tara Riley is proud to announce that they’re taking that support to the next level. Fresh Coat has hired Nathan Millhouse as the company’s new Vice President of Operations.

As an experienced business coach, Millhouse will be focusing not only on helping new franchisees build strong businesses, but also on guiding successful Fresh Coat owners through growing and scaling their franchises into larger operations.

“At Fresh Coat, we do a great job of helping franchisees get on their feet and start successful businesses. I’m hoping, with my experience, we can continue that level of service while building our support structure for helping our owners expand their businesses by walking them through processes like building an office staff, handling human resources and becoming a CEO rather than running the day to day operations. We’ve been around more than a decade now, so many of our franchisees are ready for that step and I’m excited that we’ll be in a better position to help,” Millhouse said.

In addition to his coaching experience, Millhouse has a strong background in operations, including time in franchise leadership with GNC, AAMCO Transmissions and Total Car Care, Comfort Keepers, Complete Nutrition and Zounds Hearing, Inc. He also owned an AMMCO franchise for a few years.

“I knew Tara from a previous company and she was talking to me about what she was looking for in a VP. We were brainstorming about what kind of person she needed and, during the course of those conversations, I realized I was interested in joining the team. I was happy in my previous job and wasn’t planning on leaving, but joining Fresh Coat as the Vice President of Operations was an exciting opportunity to make an impact on a growing company. I couldn’t pass it up,” he said.

Riley said bringing Millhouse on board was as much as change in mindset and operations style as it was a change in staff.

“We are moving to a true business coaching form of franchise support. Business coaching focuses on the profitability and health of individual franchisee and them achieving THEIR goals, which is why it poises the brand for awesome growth! Nate comes with a strong background of business coaching, has an MBA and has previously owned businesses. Having worked with him in the past, I know and understand the skills he brings to the table,” Riley said.

Although Erick will be leading the business, his wife Teresa, who graduated from Texas A&M University and works full-time as an engineer, will be helping with marketing and other elements of the business. The couple lives in Pflugerville with their two young kids and they’re looking forward to getting more involved with the community through Fresh Coat.

He learned about Fresh Coat when the previous franchise owner painted their home and were impressed with the professionalism and dedication to quality.

“I’ve always enjoyed painting and working with people. Fresh Coat allows me to combine those two passions into a business that raises the bar in the industry and provides superior customer service and quality work. We take pride in catering to the needs of our customers! We’re different because we can provide on the spot precise quotes – not estimates – with professional painters and Sherwin-Williams products,” Estrada said.

“Families are pressed for time and we understand the value of the time our potential clients set aside to meet with us. We will respect that time from the first call through the final walk through. And, if you need anything at all, you’ll be working with me – the owner of the business – not a sales representative. I’ll make sure our customers are more than happy with the results” Estrada said.

Teresa added: “There are a lot of great DIY-ers out there, but you can really tell the difference when a professional painter does the work. Hiring a professional painting company like Fresh Coat is a worthwhile investment. Let us show you what ‘Painting Done Right!’ really means.”

Fresh Coat Stamford, a local Fresh Coat Painters franchise, offers residential and commercial painting services including interior and exterior painting, wood staining and finishing, and other services for nearly every protective coating application.

NOVEMBER 11, 2015

Tania Beliard is excited about bringing her background in property management and passion for customer service to her new business, Fresh Coat Stamford.

I always wanted to own my own business, so that experience inspired me to franchise with Fresh Coat and provide a better services experience to this community,” Beliard said.

Fresh Coat is committed to quality products and services and the company offers a 3-3-3 customer service pledge, so calls will be answered by a live person within three minutes, a quote will be delivered within three days (customer schedule permitting) and the job will be started within three weeks. For me, Fresh Coat is all about making homes and properties beautiful and personal. We are here to help you love your space,” Beliard said. “We will work with you based on your needs and wants. Paint it Forward Project Revitalizes Mainspring Schools

Fresh Coat of North Austin gave Mainspring Schools a fresh coat of paint at no charge thanks to the company’s nation-wide Paint it Forward® campaign.

SEPTEMBER 29, 2015

Children at Mainspring Schools will have an even cheerier place to go to now that Fresh Coat Painters has revitalized the building through a project that put a new coat of paint on the school’s doors and kitchen walls.

Fresh Coat of North Austin completed the painting projects at no charge thanks to the company’s nation-wide Paint it Forward® campaign, which aims to give back to organizations and individuals making a difference in communities across the country by providing a fresh coat of paint at no charge. The painting at Mainspring was completed over the weekend, Sept. 19 and Sept. 20.

Mainspring Schools, a local nonprofit early education center, opened in 1941 as a childcare center for the children of the women working in local factories during World War II. Today Mainspring is a best-in-class nonprofit preschool that eliminates the early childhood school readiness gap. The mission is to deliver the highest quality early education and care to Austin’s most economically disadvantaged children – along with services so each child and parent have tools for success in school and life.

“The kitchen and doors look amazing. Everyone keeps coming into my office and letting us know how they didn’t realize how much help we needed until they saw the difference Fresh Coat made. I know that will benefit from this paint makeover in innumerable ways – it has made our school a much brighter and more beautiful environment,” Mainspring’s Managing Director Mandy Brooks said.

“We feel really fortunate to have been considered and chosen as a Fresh Coat Painters Paint it Forward project. Now we can spend that money on better materials, fresh produce for meals and other important things,” Brooks said. “Our goal is to make sure that children are socially, mentally and emotionally ready for the world when they may not have been otherwise. A lot of the kids at our school have had a rough-go and we want to help give them the tools to succeed in school and in life.”

Fresh Coat Painters is a leading residential and commercial painting company with a focus on customer service and professionalism. The company offers professional residential and commercial painting services including interior and exterior painting, wood staining and refinishing, wallpaper removal and many other services for nearly every protective coating application. They use quality, environmentally safe materials and offer a live 24/7 customer service center, online scheduling and free detailed quotes. All Fresh Coat employees are insured, trained and background checked.

Wagner opened Fresh Coat of North Austin in the spring of 2012 after 18 years at Dell. The local business serves Cedar Park, Leander, Round Rock, North Austin and the surrounding communities.

Fresh Coat provided the expertise and man-hours and the paint was donated by Fresh Coat Painter’s national paint partner, Sherwin-Williams. In addition to the kitchen, doors and door jambs, Fresh Coat painted a portion of the ceiling damaged by water.

Brooks learned about the national Paint it Forward program after seeing the story about their work with Austin Pets Alive! She contacted the company’s headquarters in Cincinnati, Ohio, who put her in touch with Wagner. Wagner said she was excited to be given the opportunity to help the school through Paint it Forward.

“I was excited to have the opportunity to help the school, the teachers and the children through Paint it Forward. I have two grown sons and a 3-year-old granddaughter and knowing we could do something to make a difference for children is just wonderful. I’m always humbled when we can step in and do something like this with Paint it Forward. It’s awesome to see people who are so passionate about what they do. Mandy has so much energy for the school and the kids – it’s rewarding to be able to help her give even more by saving her the money she would have otherwise had to spend on these projects,” Wagner said.

Paint It Forward was inspired by Eric Ascencio, previous co-owner of a Fresh Coat Painters franchise in Houston, Texas. Eric had made it his mission to be an inspiration for other cancer patients and to give back to those in his community, leaving behind a legacy when he recently lost his battle with the disease. It’s estimated that the job will require eight gallons of paint and 40 hours of labor, which would cost Mainspring Schools $2,760 if not for Paint it Forward.

Humar Gonzalez Opens Fresh Coat Painters Franchise in Pearland

Fresh Coat of Pearland, a local Fresh Coat Painters franchise, serves Pearland, Manvel, Fresno, Sienna Plantation, Fort Bend and the surrounding communities.

SEPTEMBER 10, 2015

Humar Gonzalez has spent the last 20 years sacrificing evenings and weekends with his kids to keep a roof over their heads. Now the single dad is looking forward to turning in the time sheet and starting a new life as the owner of a new franchise, Fresh Coat of Pearland.

Fresh Coat of Pearland, a local Fresh Coat Painters franchise, offers residential and commercial painting services including interior and exterior painting, wood staining and finishing, and other services for nearly every protective coating application. They use quality, environmentally safe materials and offer a 24/7 customer service center, online scheduling, in-home color design consultations and detailed quotes. Fresh Coat of Pearland serves Pearland, Manvel, Fresno, Sienna Plantation, Fort Bend and the surrounding communities.

“Before I opened this business, I worked as a machinist and, for the last five years, as a shop supervisor. There were days when I was gone from 4am to 6:30pm and I just got to the point where I was sick of missing baseball games, school plays and band practice. Opening my own Fresh Coat franchise will give me the flexibility and time to be there for my kids, Hunter and Kati,” Gonzalez said.

Fresh Coat is committed to quality products and services and the company offers a 3-3-3 customer service pledge, so calls will be answered by a live person within three minutes, a quote will be delivered within three days (customer schedule permitting) and the job will be started within three weeks. All Fresh Coat employees are trained, dependable, fully insured and background-checked.

“My team and I are committed to providing excellent customer service and we’ll do whatever it takes to satisfy the customer. We’re confident you’ll love our work, but if you have a problem, we’ll be there to fix it,” Gonzalez said.

Fresh Coat Painters in Pensacola Paints Home for Disabled Veteran

Local veteran Jamario Ridley, co-owner of Fresh Coat Painters of Pensacola, recently painted the home of disabled veteran Karen Wagner as part of the company's Paint it Forward program.

AUGUST 25, 2015

Local veteran Jamario Ridley understands the importance service and giving back. That’s why he’s excited to have painted the home of a fellow Marine, Karen Rudolph, as part of Fresh Coat’s Paint it Forward® program. Jamario owns Fresh Coat Painters of Pensacola with business partner Larry Griffin.

Fresh Coat Painters offers interior and exterior painting, wood staining and refinishing, wallpaper removal and many other services for nearly every protective coating application. Fresh Coat Painters of Pensacola serves Pensacola, Gulf Breeze, Milton and Pace in Florida as well as Baldwin County in Alabama and the surrounding areas.

Karen, a medically disabled US Marine Corps veteran, was nominated for the free whole house interior painting by the local American Legion. Karen served in the US Marine Corps for more than 13 years, including five deployments, three of which were combat deployments. She was discharged in 2013 for medical reasons and now spends her time as an active volunteer supporting her brothers and sisters in arms. Karen started the Marine Corps Women Association chapter in Pensacola, volunteers with WAVE and the USO, and is a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars organizations.

“I’m so happy Fresh Coat selected me to receive the home painting and that they offer this kind of program nationwide,” Karen said. “I’ve wanted to paint my house for a while, but it was cost-prohibitive. My home is just the builders’ white – it’s like base housing – so I was looking forward to adding some color and making it more personal.”

Fresh Coat Painters of Pensacola was launched in 2013. Before owning the business, Jamario served 12 years in the military. In fact, he and Karen served at the same time, they both worked in avionics and they often crossed paths during deployments. The legion nominated Karen for her service and commitment to others.

“Karen – and her husband Tom – were selected for the home painting because we wanted to take this opportunity to honor one of our disabled veterans who wouldn’t be able paint their own home or pay someone else to do the work. The Rudolphs were nominated and we thought they were the best choice,” Commander John Edens said. “Our post and all our members are quite impressed with Fresh Coat’s ability and drive to help local veterans. Not everyone is willing to take the time, money and effort to do something like this.”

Jamario said Karen’s project was quoted with 30 gallons of paint and 95 man hours, which would normally cost about $4,000. Fresh Coat will be providing the expertise and man-hours and the paint for the project is being donated by Fresh Coat Painter’s national paint partner, Sherwin-Williams.

Although the project is part of the national Paint it Forward program, Jamario said giving back was always something he’d planned to do as a small business owner.

“If you’re going to be a local business and you’re going to thrive on the support of the people in your area, I think you should be giving back. I want to show people that Fresh Coat is not just here to take your money and do a job. Fresh Coat is part of this community like everyone else and we all rise and fall together,” Jamario said. “Paint it Forward is a great program and it gives us the opportunity to make people happy. I hope more franchises across the country get involved.”

“I also hope that seeing what I’m doing will inspire other local small businesses to work to make a difference,” he added.

Freddy Claros Launches Fresh Coat Painters of Barrington

Fresh Coat of Barrington bring professional painting services to Barrington, Palatine, Hoffman Estates, Algonquin and the surrounding communities.

AUGUST 4, 2015

Freddy Claros is looking forward to bringing his experience as a customer advocate to his new small business, Fresh Coat Painters of Barrington.

Fresh Coat of Barrington, a local Fresh Coat Painters franchise, offers residential and commercial painting services including interior and exterior painting, wood staining and finishing, and other services for nearly every protective coating application. They use quality, environmentally safe materials and offer a 24/7 customer service center, online scheduling, in-home color design consultations and detailed quotes. Fresh Coat of Barrington serves Barrington, Palatine, Hoffman Estates, Algonquin and the surrounding communities.

“I worked for a telecommunications company for 23 years, most recently in strategic proposal development as the project manager for the proposal. A big part of my job was keeping the draft on schedule and advocating for the customer’s needs along the way. That’s experience I am bringing to Fresh Coat. I understand the importance of making sure the customer understands what they are paying for, that we deliver on those promises and that the customer is happy with our work,” Claros said.

Fresh Coat is committed to quality products and services and the company offers a 3-3-3 customer service pledge, so calls will be answered by a live person within three minutes, a quote will be delivered within three days (customer schedule permitting) and the job will be started within three weeks.

All Fresh Coat of Barrington employees are trained, insured and background-checked. Fresh Coat Painters does not work with subcontractors so you always know who will be on the job in your home or business.

Claros decided to open his own business in order to leave the corporate world behind.

“It was time for me to make a change and I felt like I had graduated to being my own boss. I wanted to give myself the opportunity to use my work ethic, passion and dedication to benefit my family in a more meaningful way,” he said. “When I was looking at franchise opportunities, Fresh Coat was a great fit. I’m looking forward to using my experience in project management with the business and my team as well as my experience as a customer advocate to meet my customers’ needs.”

“When you hire Fresh Coat, you can expect a professional experience. I will be your service manager and my professional painters will be in your home or business to paint, not to make a sale. The experience we provide sets us apart from the competition,” Claros added.

Originally from Colombia, Claros has spent a majority of his life in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago. He is the father to four daughters from his first marriage and is the step-father to a set of triplet boys in his current marriage. His wife Pilar is also looking forward to fully supporting the efforts of this new endeavor and will be fully committed to working hard to make this a success.

Trainor Family Opens Fresh Coat Painters in Glendale

New painting franchise brings professional painting experience to Glendale, Peoria, Sun City, Arrowhead Ranch and the surrounding areas.

JULY 15, 2015

JT and Mia Trainor are looking forward to bringing a high caliber customer service experience to the property owners in his area through their new business, Fresh Coat of Glendale.

Fresh Coat of Glendale, a local Fresh Coat Painters franchise, offers residential and commercial painting services including interior and exterior painting, wood staining and finishing, and other services for nearly every protective coating application. They use quality, environmentally safe materials and offer a 24/7 customer service center, online scheduling, in-home color design consultations and detailed quotes. Fresh Coat of Glendale serves Glendale, Peoria, Sun City, Arrowhead Ranch and the surrounding areas.

“I know everyone has had a bad experience with a contractor – myself included – so when I decided that I wanted to be a small business owner, I knew I wanted to launch a company that gave me the opportunity to change that. At Fresh Coat, we’re committed to providing you with the best customer experience possible by offering high quality service and products at reasonable prices,” JT said.

Fresh Coat is committed to quality products and services and the company offers a 3-3-3 customer service pledge, so calls will be answered by a live person within three minutes, a quote will be delivered within three days (customer schedule permitting) and the job will be started within three weeks.

JT earned a degree in mechanical engineering and a minor in physics from Eastern Washington University. He has worked in the aerospace and construction business for more than 17 years, most recently for Hilti, where he held six positions and lived in five states over 12 years. His last position as the national marketing manager also meant traveling two or three weeks each month.

“It was hard on my family for me to be away so often. I wanted a new career that would allow me to be home spending time with my wife and kids. When I started looking into business opportunities, Fresh Coat was the perfect fit. I love changing things for the better – which is probably why I went to school to be an engineer – and I enjoy helping people get what they want, so being in a field where I can do both of those things made perfect sense,” JT said. “I love when we get to go in, paint a home and leave the homeowners wowed. That’s what this business should be all about.”

All Fresh Coat of Glendale employees are trained, insured and background-checked. Fresh Coat Painters does not work with subcontractors so you always know who will be on the job in your home or business.

When they’re not working, JT and Mia are spending time with their 3-year-old son and 2-year-old daughter. They’re also looking forward to getting more involved in the community through a variety of business groups as well as the Fresh Coat Painters Paint it Forward program, which encourages local franchisees to give back by getting involved in projects.

“The Paint it Forward program is going to be a big part of who we are because we are looking forward to being part of this community. We want to support the community that supports us,” JT said.
